FAQ
About the Game
What exactly is The Viewing Deck™?
A workplace card game designed to spark perspective-taking, deepen reflection, and shift the way teams interact and make decisions. Players assume new identities and respond to real-world workplace scenarios – then reflect on what shaped their response.
The Viewing Deck can be used informally, facilitated internally, or as part of a cohort-based experience, depending on how teams want to engage.
Is this a game or a training tool?
Both. It uses the mechanics of play to make complex topics like identity, communication, and perception feel safe to explore. It’s light in format, but deep in impact.
How many cards are included?
Each deck contains 80+ cards across four types: Identity, Scenario, Question, and Conversation cards – enough for dozens of different conversations and repeated use.

Using the Game
Who is this for?
The Viewing Deck is used by team leaders, HR and L&D professionals, facilitators, consultants, and teams who want to explore perspective, communication, and decision-making.
Some teams use the deck informally. Others choose additional structure through Facilitation Essentials or Perspective in Practice.
Can my team use the game on our own?
Yes. Many teams use the deck on their own for informal exploration.
For in-person sessions with multiple tables or higher-stakes conversations, we recommend using Facilitation Essentials or participating in Perspective in Practice to ensure the experience is held responsibly.
Can The CLU Studio facilitate the game for my team?
Yes. CLU offers direct facilitation for teams who want an externally led experience.
We also offer Facilitation Essentials for internal facilitators and Perspective in Practice, a cohort-based experience that prepares teams to lead sessions themselves.
Learn more about facilitation options.
What types of teams use this?
Everyone from startups to Fortune 500s. It’s been used at offsites, onboarding sessions, new leader training, retreats, and more.
Impact & Outcomes
What will my team get from using this?
Stronger communication. Greater empathy. More thoughtful decision-making. And deeper understanding of how identity shapes experience in the workplace.
Is it a one-time use?
Not at all. It’s designed to be used repeatedly. Each round of play creates new conversations depending on the scenario, identity, and team dynamic.
Choosing the Right Experience
What’s the difference between the deck, Facilitation Essentials, and Perspective in Practice?
The deck is for exploration. Facilitation Essentials adds structure and reflection tools for internal facilitators. Perspective in Practice is a cohort-based experience that builds internal facilitation capability over time.
How do I know which option is right for us?
If you’re exploring, start with the deck.
If you’re facilitating a session, choose Facilitation Essentials.
If you want to build internal capability, Perspective in Practice is designed for you.
Is Perspective in Practice a certification?
No. It’s preparation, not certification.
The focus is on readiness, shared language, and responsible facilitation – not credentials.
